Invited to participate in Directed Studies, a highly selective yearlong interdisciplinary program in the Western Canon (2005-2006). Studied and produced short fiction under author Caryl Phillips in Advanced Fiction Writing, an application-based seminar (2008). Completed an Independent Creative Writing Tutorial under the direction of author Leslie Woodard (2009).

Teaching Experience

2016 - 2017       St. Albans School, Washington, DC

Writer in Residence

Developed and taught three sections of a semester-long creative writing course to high school juniors and seniors. Guided students through extensive reading and analysis of contemporary literature, daily composition of prose and poetry, and weekly writing workshops. Served as literary resource and liaison for students and faculty.


2015 - 2016         Hollins University, Roanoke, VA

Teaching Fellow, English Department

Crafted and taught one section per semester of The Fundamentals of Writing Poetry and Fiction, a creative writing course grounded in the study of contemporary literature. Aided students in their development of voice, craft, and oral and written critique skills through frequent feedback, conferencing, and workshop facilitation. 


2011 - 2014          The Lovett School, Atlanta, GA

Middle School English Teacher

Designed and executed creative and engaging lessons that sparked sophisticated critical thinking and developed essential skills. Daily emphasized the power of literature and writing to shape and inspire humanity. Mentored and advised advanced 8th grade English students in the creation and self-publication of their own book-length projects.

Speech and Debate Assistant Coach (2011-2014): Aided students in selecting prose, poetry, and dramatic pieces that showcased their unique personalities and abilities. Assisted in improving students’ enunciation, expression, eye contact, gestures, and verbal power.

Vestry Coordinator (2013 – 2014): Organized and oversaw student Chapel participants on a weekly basis.

Project Based Learning Committee (2011-2013): Investigated latest Project Based Learning ideas, integrated relevant strategies into curriculum, and shared findings with the school at large.

Initiative to Improve Student Writing (2012): Co-created and co-presented to all middle school faculty a general writing rubric designed to encourage teachers of all disciplines to assist in molding our students into strong writers.

Digital Yearbook Intramural Instructor (2012): Guided students through video interview process (crafting questions, capturing footage, video editing, etc.) in order to capture the many different voices of Lovett.

Teach for America Corps Member and 8th Grade English Teacher

Selected from more than 31,000 applicants nationwide to join national teacher corps of recent college graduates who teach in under-resourced public schools. Developed rigorous English Language Arts lessons using innovative methods to inspire and motivate students to reach their highest academic potential. Oversaw and fostered the English language development of 125 8th grade students.

President and Co-Founder

In memory and honor of my mother, founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to spark a passion for service in young people. Conceived mission, goals, and bylaws of the organization. Created and managed website and Facebook page. Worked directly with students (K-12), teachers, administrators, and other non-profit service organizations to design, coordinate, and execute events that impacted over 550 people in need.

Wrote compelling company descriptions designed to maximize search engine ranking and client conversion. Edited and formatted sales copy and articles for the company blog. Composed press releases. Organized and conducted recruitment of new staff, targeting top tier university graduates.
