Trauma and PTSD

In the wake of trauma, we can feel broken beyond repair…

Trauma overwhelms our natural ability to process and learn from the experiences of our lives. In the wake of it, we can feel stuck in patterns that we know don't serve us--unrecognizable even to ourselves. You might find yourself using substances more than you want to, avoiding spending time with people you love, eating past the point of feeling hungry or enjoying the food, or having difficulty eating at all, even when you know you should. Nightmares yank you out of sleep, or you feel like you aren’t even in your body, like life is happening to you but you aren’t really part of it. Seemingly insignificant things—a scent, a song, a corner of your house—can send you spiralling into what feels like an endless void.

If you’re experiencing any of this, please know, you don’t have to do this alone. There are a number of proven approaches that can help you begin to heal—that can move you from a place of barely making it to a position of wholeness, strength, and even joy. Through modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems) as well as a variety of somatic, imagery-based, and expressive-arts-based techniques, I can help you claim who you are now, not just in spite of, but because of everything you've survived.
